All aboard the Hogwarts Express! Harry Potter fans all over Ontario are in for the most magical ride of their life, as a 94-year-old steam engine train will be transformed into the iconic Hogwarts Express for a Harry Potter-themed festival.
The Waterloo Central Railway is holding a special event entitled the Hogwarts Express and Magical Wizards Festival this fall in celebration of J.K. Rowling's famous boy wizard. The festival portion will take place at the Waterloo Central Railway Museum Station grounds in St. Jacobs village, which is just a 1.5 hour drive from Toronto. There, guests can expect a variety of special performances, sub-events, vendors and interactive workshops that are sure to bring out their inner witches and wizards.
Performances at the event will include magic shows by full-costume magicians, as well as "Wandering Duels" - spontaneous bouts of combat between two highly-trained wizards. You can also participate in a Marauder's Map scavenger hunt, and test your wizarding prowess in the Wizard's Dueling Ring, where you'll have to use your knowledge of spells to beat your opponent. Winners get to join Dumbledore's Army!
Fun workshops like feather pen calligraphy and magic trick classes are available to all ticket holders. One particularly cool workshop is one entitled the Care of Magical Creatures, which will teach you how to track and identify the animals.
After the festival, guests can go on a magical train ride on the Hogwarts Express, which will send passengers on a scenic 1-hour tour of the St. Jacobs countryside.
The festival will take place on September 30th, 2017, with trains departing from St. Jacobs at 8 AM, 10 AM, 12 AM and 8 PM.
Only a limited number of tickets are available. Be sure to book your tickets now through Waterloo Central Railway's website.
